Oxidized Mushroom Inspired Ethiopian Opal Ring in .999/.925 Silver | US Ring Size 7 3/4
This was a real surprise for me. What started purely as an experiment turned into one of my favorite items I've made yet! It was so full of surprises, like how the black oxidization in the “mushroom gills” has some iridescence to go with the exquisite color play from the opal, which polished up so nicely and really shines! This is a ring that everyone will not be and ask you about.
The ring band is made of .925 sterling silver, while everything else is made using .999 fine silver. The opal weighs 1.23 carats
It's worth noting that Ethiopian opals like this aren't big fans of getting wet. A splash won't hurt it but bathing with it or washing your hands with it is not advisable as it will cause the opal to turn clear and lose a lot of color. They will dry out and go back to normal, but that can take a fair amount of time.
